The short term Solution:

1. press Shift+Alt once I could see "desktop image" (this changes the input method)

2. press Shift+Alt again and again until my desired input method (US) is displayed

3. Click "Your input method has changed..."

4. Click "Input methods"

5. Click the network (In my case "No Network")

6. Join the network

What led to this was moving the set of Chromebooks from one campus where they are usually used (one network) to another campus where they've never been used (new network).


Something is preventing the No Network prompt so this is simply a workaround until...hopefully...this bug is fixed.
